| I'd recommend Firebrand, a book about the fall of Troy from the perspective of Kassandra, the prophetess who predicted its fall but was ignored. It really lends color to the traditional story.
Another excellent book is Legacy of Herot. It's the story of Beowulf, but in the future on another planet. The monsters, called grendels (where I got my screen name), are super cool, and pretty creepy.

| More about the suggestions I've already made, or more books that I'd recommend?
Books I recommend:
The Queen of Atolia (I've read it like seven times. I can't explain it, so check it out from the library)
The Edge Chronicles
The Bartimaeus Trilogy
A Game of Thrones (be prepared to have your favorite characters die, though)
