FINALLY! Someone who has read them!!!
I think of these books as the pinnacle of all fantasy adventure books. Stephen King is a literary GENIUS.
Anyway. Refresher:
The series starts out with the famous Dark Tower opening line:"The back in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed."
The series is about the last gunslinger, Roland Deschain, the last of the line of Eld, living in a world worn thin with time. A world that eerily parallels our own, straight from the old westerns. His mission in life, the one thing that drives him on, is to find the Dark Tower. He doesn't know why or how he's going to get there, all he knows is that it is his destiny, his Ka.
Throughout the series, you follow him as he meets his ka-tet, opens other worlds, reveals the tragic past, and toys with the paradoxes of time and space, all for the sake of the Dark Tower, the hub and central force that holds together all the universes.
...
So, what'd you think of my vague synopsis? XD That, of course, doesn't nearly do the series justice for its greatness, but hey. i say read them again. it'll be worth it to rediscover it all again.
I myself recently finished reading The Dark Tower the last book in the series. i started to reread the series again shortly after. i just recently finished The Drawing of the Three.
